KSW federation will take appropriate steps after the staphylococcus scandal. Changes will be made to medical procedures before the KSW 100 anniversary event in Gliwice.
The last few days at the KSW office have been extremely intense. All because of a staphylococcus affair. Michal Sobiech contracted staphylococcus and streptococcus from his opponent Karol Kutyla during their fight at KSW 99. It turns out that Martin Lewandowski was strongly concerned about Sobiech’s situation. The KSW chief decided to take the appropriate steps, which were told, among other things, by the affected fighter himself.
Michal Sobiech commented on the changes in KSW during the Octagon Live program. “Dr. Beast” said that there will be changes in the number of tests already before the KSW 100 gala.
– I spoke with Martin, who took an interest in my situation and took over. I immediately had support from KSW. Now I know that already before KSW 100 there will be more medical restrictions and procedures. I know that there are already meetings for this purpose. This is cool, because our health is the most precious thing. Business is business, but when we put our health on the line, we know what is most important.
Paweł Czyrka, who manages the medical section of MMA Poland, also added his three cents to the situation. Czyrka conveyed in the pages of the Sports Channel.
– We require basic testing for hepatitis B, C and HIV. On the other hand, with this situation, Martin Lewandowski reacted strongly and we have been talking since this information has improved. We will change medical procedures, they will be tightened. In order to avoid such situations. My personal feeling and that of the medical team is that we have already exhausted the principle of limited trust in the players.
