KSW owner on change of TV partner: “We are among the top sports events like Ekstraklasa, Champions League” [VIDEO]

The KSW owner commented on the change of TV partner from viaplay to Canal+. Martin Lewandowski believes that KSW now has a partner with the strongest sports frame.

A special press conference was held today to announce the signing of an agreement between KSW and CANAL+. During the conference it was announced that ten galas a year will be available in the Super Sport package, while two additional galas will be sold in the PPV system.

Martin Lewandowski gave an interview to reporter Michal Tuszynski of the FanSport portal. During the conversation, the KSW chief talked about the change of television partner. Lewandowski is very pleased that KSW galas will be among the top sports events.

KSW a top event like the Champions League

– I am very happy. For this moment, this is the strongest partner, which has the strongest framework of such sports. We are among such top sports events: Ekstraklasa, La Liga, Champions League, WTA, Speedway, NBA. Well there is really very, very much and including KSW. I am very happy that we are in such an environment, that it is not some niche station. It’s also gaining such a nice momentum.

Michal Tuszynski asked Martin Lewandowski about whether the viaplay deal was terminated prematurely. The head of the KSW federation commented extensively on the subject.

– Definitely yes. First of all, there is nothing to make a secret out of it. Viaplay came out to the market and said we are ending our cooperation in Poland because business is not going well for us, we are leaving in the middle of 2025. They didn’t hide it, we also emphasized it in interviews. The cooperation was supposed to end in the middle of next year. Seeing that this cooperation was not sticking, that there was no such “lust” for promoting more galas, I decided that it was simply time to part ways a little earlier. We started talking to different entities, because Canal+ was not the only company we talked to, apropos of taking over the rights properly after Viaplay. We decided that we would end it now, so that before the KSW 100 gala we could close one chapter and start another.

Of course, there was also a question about the financial conditions and specifics of the contract with Canal+. Lewandowski admitted that for the KSW federation, the deal with the French-originated TV station is much more interesting than the contract with Viaplay.

– Listen if they were not favorable so logically I would not shorten cooperation with Viaplay. Yes, this deal this deal is much, much more interesting in many respects, of course, including the financial one. In addition to finances, there are also a number of such factors that need to be taken (into account) because it is three years. This has to be provided for somehow in the contract. The conditions that we outlined for ourselves are almost 90 percent realized thanks to this agreement, or will be (in the future). The contract is more interesting, for us much more promising. One with a trend towards development. The plans are really big of course I don’t want to declare too much ahead of time here because we’ll see how this first year flows. We have three years, but I believe it will be a much longer cooperation.
