KSW’s sporting director has commented on rumors regarding the return of one of the organization’s former champions. Rysiewski confirmed that he wants Chuzhigaev to return.
In recent weeks, manager Artur Gwóźdź gave an interview, after which many fans and experts inferred that one of the candidates for a rival for Rafal Haratyka at KSW 100 is Ibragim Chuzhigaev, a former welterweight champion.
Wojslaw Rysiewski was a guest in the studio of the FanSport portal. Journalist Michal Tushinski asked the sports director about the name of the former champion. KSW sports director admitted that indeed the federation is interested in the return of Ibragim Chuzhigaev.
– There was an idea, well it’s something we will try to do, but it won’t happen again this year because there are not only financial/contractual issues there, but also visa issues. Also this year for sure Ibragim will not return to us. But I am the initiator of the return to talks and I would like, I will make an attempt to make it work next year.
Ibragim Khuzhigaev (19-5) has fought just one bout since parting ways with KSW. Representing Turkey, “The Million First” appeared at AMC Fight Nights 124 in Yerevan, where he submitted little-known Hosein Helali by guillotine. Khuzhigaev, after leaving KSW, hoped to tie himself to a contract with the PFL or Bellator, but nothing came of it.
