KSW owner stood up for Mariusz Pudzianowski. Martin Lewandowski admitted that Pudzian was set to rake in a record payday for his fight at KSW 100.
Last week, Mariusz Pudzianowski announced that he was withdrawing from the KSW 100 anniversary gala. A wave of heckling rained down on the former strongman world champion on the Internet after the decision was announced. There were also people who claimed that Pudzianowski’s training staff had made the right decision.
Now Martin Lewandowski has commented on Pudzianowski’s decision. The KSW owner defends Pudzian and reveals that the heavyweight fighter was set to rake in a record payday for his appearance at KSW 100. According to Lewandowski, Mariusz resigned from the gala for the sake of the fans.
– Ladies and Gentlemen, Mariusz Pudzianowski at the XTB KSW 100 gala was guaranteed the highest payday of his MMA career to date. Do you think he gave it up for no reason? “Pudzian” withdrew from the gala precisely because of his respect for the fans. He didn’t care only about the box office. If it had been different, he would have concealed his problems, come out to fight, maybe even lose the fight, but he would have taken the payday of a lifetime.
According to Lewandowski, the popular Pudzian realizes that the opportunity to appear at KSW’s anniversary will not happen again.
– Mariusz strongly considered the fact that Gliwice will have an anniversary and what a special gala. For me and Mariusz, this gala is like KSW Colosseum, which was held twice in the largest stadium in Poland. It is an evening that is one of a kind. The next anniversary event is KSW 200, but it will happen in about eight years, so Mariusz is aware that it is already rather without him.
According to unofficial information, Mariusz Pudzianowski was expected to earn about 1.5 million zlotys for his fight at KSW 100. The fee has not been confirmed by KSW, however, such a sum is very impressive.
