KSW owner responded to Minister Slawomir Nitras. Maciej Kawulski stressed that knee blows to the head in MMA are as natural as a football player kicking a ball.
Recently Slawomir Nitras, Minister of Sports and Tourism, said that he does not want a place like the National Stadium to be associated with bloody fights. Nitras also announced a crackdown on freak fights that set a bad example for young people.
Maciej Kawulski, owner of the KSW federation, addressed the words of Slawomir Nitras in a lengthy interview with the Interia.pl portal. The KSW chief responded strongly to the sports minister.
– I don’t know if it’s our job to convince the Minister of Sports that combat sports is a sport. If he doesn’t believe that, it means that his party colleagues have assigned him this honorable position because they like him, not because he knows about sports. It seems that in this position it is not necessary to explain to a person what a burnout is. If one does need to, then perhaps the function is not properly matched with skills and competence.
Kawulski is convinced that successive politicians serving as sports minister have little knowledge of what they are dealing with. However, the KSW owner stressed that the greatest politicians are able to admit their mistakes.
– I don’t want to offend anyone, but I have a deep conviction, bordering on certainty, that every new sports minister, regardless of the political hand, is a bit of a neophyte. The lack of experts is the problem of our politics. We are talking about Olympic sports, with a three-hundred-year history of impact sports, where a knee blow to the head is as normal as a kick to the ball in football. Postponing the long tradition of MMA proves the dubious veracity of the thesis being put forward. But we also recognize the greatness of politicians by their ability to hit their breasts and admit their mistakes.
