KSW’s sporting director confirmed that the federation has dropped Tomasz Narkun, not wanting to overpay for a fighter whose value is declining due to inactivity.
Wojslaw Rysiewski was a guest on the Sports Channel’s Hejt Park program. The KSW sports director’s presence in the studio resulted in calls from viewers, as well as online connections with the fighters.
At one point, a question was raised about the return of Tomasz Narkun, the former light heavyweight division champion who unsuccessfully tried twice to reach the title of the royal weight category. Narkun will celebrate his 36th birthday this year, while remaining inactive since March 2024. Therefore, it is safe to say that the fighter does not have much time left for further fights at a high sporting level.
KSW sporting director about Tomasz Narukun
Wojslaw Rysiewski, KSW’s sporting director, admitted that although the federation’s owners made an offer to Tomasz Narkun it apparently did not meet the Berserkers Team representative’s expectations.
– I think Martin made a proposal, because I prepared it, but I think it is inadequate to Thomas’ expectations. We decided not to overpay in this case. The problem is that over time Tom’s value does not increase, but decreases. If he doesn’t win and remind the public of himself, then unfortunately these offers won’t grow. I know that we were not the only ones who made an offer. Other Polish organizations this year tried and no one succeeded in encouraging Tomek to fight.
Thus, it appears that Giraffe fans have nothing to count on for the former KSW champion’s return to the federation. It is worth noting that Wojslaw Rysiewski made it clear that other Polish organizations also made offers to Narkun, and the latter made prohibitive demands each time.
