Mike Goldberg helped build the UFC organization for nearly 20 years. Now the legendary commentator would like to return to work in the UFC.
Mike Goldberg worked in the UFC organization from 1997 to 2016. For nineteen years, the American from Ohio formed a commentator duo with Joe Rogan. MMA fans around the world enjoyed listening to Goldberg shouting into the microphone the famous “Here we go“, “It is all over“, or throwing in the phrase “Virtually Identical” while introducing the fighters’ profiles.
Unfortunately, after nearly 20 years of service, Goldberg parted ways with the UFC in 2016 when the organization changed ownership. He later worked for the Bellator organization for four years, and currently comments on the galas of the BYB organization, in which fighters fight bare-knuckle fights.
Mike Goldberg was a guest on the JAXXON podcast, co-hosted by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. The legendary commentator recalled how he felt when he learned that he was not part of the new UFC owners’ plans.
– I don’t want to whine and complain because it will make the well-being of everyone around me plummet. Of course, this news literally crushed me, I was heartbroken. I had helped build this product for many years, lent my voice. I wanted to continue this journey together and I had to do it elsewhere which later shed some light on my time in the UFC, gave me a different perspective.
Asked if he would take another job in the UFC organization, Mike Goldberg replied:
– I would be honored if I could do it again. I respect Dana White a lot for what the UFC is doing. Who knows what will happen? I don’t think he hates me, but we are not buddies who exchange text messages.
