Lerone Murphy commented on the fact that he was left out of the fight for the featherweight division belt, which will take place at the UFC 325 gala in Sydney.
Last week Dana White announced several championship matchups that will take place at upcoming UFC galas. While fans expected the announcements they were heavily surprised by the fights selected by matchmakers and the president of the world’s best MMA league.
In particular, the fight for the featherweight category belt, in which Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes will meet, caused quite a surprise. Fans don’t understand why Diego Lopes was so quickly given a chance for a rematch while there were two great contenders lined up who have not yet fought for the belt.
One of the fighters was undoubtedly Lerone Murphy, who in an interview with Ariel Helwani addressed the fact that he was left out of the fight for the featherweight division belt at UFC 325.
– The first moment I found out, well I won’t cheat for a while I didn’t feel any love for MMA. I chose this sport and not boxing because I believed there would be no politics. I thought it was simple: you do a good job, the best fight the best and that’s the way it works. What hurt me the most was just the fact that this is a business. Well I will continue to fight and win and sooner or later I will reach the top and become a champion.
Lerone Murphy intends to add more wins to his record until the UFC has no choice but to simply grant him a fight for the belt.
