Lukasz Jurkowski recalled his participation in one of Legia Warsaw’s fan set-ups. The popular Juras expected to stand at the back, meanwhile, he walked in the front row.
Łukasz Jurkowski is a fighter who can confidently be counted among the forerunners of Polish MMA. Juras successfully competed in the first KSW tournaments, and then fought battles with many renowned rivals.
Jurkowski ended his athletic career and became the first fighter to have his name appear in the KSW federation’s Hall of Fame. Lukasz was recently a guest on Żurnalista’s podcast, where he recalled his participation in a set-up by Legia Warsaw fans.
– Through Legia I met the guys at the game who were involved in this form of activity. It is known what our group is called. What impressed me was that I got to know them. One of the leading figures said that I should drop by for training. I showed myself from a very good side and in two weeks there was a street brawl in Warsaw.
Jurkowski hoped to stand back during the first set-up and get a glimpse of what it’s like during a street brawl. His more experienced groupmates quickly recruited Juras to the front row.
– I started to miss adrenaline a little. All my life I had been fighting in my bare fists, a new form of adrenaline. I thought that when I went for the first time, I would stand back and see. It was a big brawl, who should know, knows. And the guys: “come on, you’re coming with us in the front row.” All those who think these people are idiots, I’m an idiot too, because I took part in it.
– The people who are in the front line of the set-ups are people you know very well, but you don’t know that they are doing it. These are educated people, a lawyer, a doctor, and in search of adrenaline they like to give themselves a poke in the woods and not hurt bystanders.
