Maciej Kawulski summed up the Khalidov vs Bartosinski clash, the KSW chief said it was a symbolic fight for people who have been in MMA since the beginning.
Mamed Khalidov dealt with Adrian Bartosinski in the second round of the KSW 100 gala evening fight. The former middleweight division champion submitted the previously undefeated Bartos. Khalidov once again proved his great worth and confirmed his status as a KSW living legend.
After the gala, it was time for summations, so there was no shortage of statements from the heads of the federation. Maciej Kawulski gave an interview to the Sports Channel, where he referred to the Khalidov vs Bartosuński fight.
– Bartos is a sensational wrestler, a terribly complete fighter and this is his time. He is a champion and will be one for a long time, I am convinced. Mamed is closer to the end than the beginning, and this is also clear. On the other hand, saying about Mamed that this has better, that this has worse… For 20 years standing in the ring he proved, because that’s the kind of character he has, that if they told him he wouldn’t win with this one on his fists, he went for his fists, and if he didn’t win with that one on the ground, he won on the ground.
Maciej Kawulski stressed that Mamed Khalidov represents the generation that built MMA as a sport in Poland. The KSW co-owner said that it was a symbolic fight for the entire organization.
– This is representative of the generation that is coming to an end, the generation on a micro scale. This is what the first fighters looked like, and I think this fight was very symbolic for us, all the people who have been in this game since the beginning.
