Maciej Sulęcki knocked out Akhmedov in faraway Kazakhstan and won the WBC Silver belt in the super middleweight category.

Maciej Sulęcki fought a duel on his rival’s territory. The Pole went to Central Asia for a skirmish with the favored Ali Akhmedov. The stake of the Sulęcki vs Akhmedov clash was the WBC Silver championship belt in the super middleweight division. The weight limit of this category is quite unusual as it is 76.2 kg.

However, it quickly turned out that the Kazakh is not so terrible as he is painted. Popular Striczu sent his rival to the boards twice already in the first round. Maciej Sulęcki worked very nicely with his stopping left. This cooled down his rival’s enthusiasm in the initial phase of the duel.

When the situation on the scorecards began to even out, the Pole this time hit with a right straight and Ali Akhmedov sat on his butt. The connected Kazakh managed to pick himself up, and in the following rounds even built up a lead over the Polish representative.

Finally in the ninth round Maciej Sulęcki had his rival connected, but failed to get a knockdown. However, Striczu saved his best for the very end of the clash, as in the tenth round he sent his opponent to the boards, and the tormented Akhmedov allowed himself to be counted out to ten and it was over for the fight.

Maciej Sulęcki, thanks to the victory, reached for the WBC Silver belt and will probably strongly boost his category in the ranking. Before the duel, the Pole was ranked at a distant 20th position, while the Kazakh was at 13th. A win in his opponent’s territory may even give Sulęcki a pass to the top ten ranking.
