Makhmud Muradov turned the fight around! A spectacular knockout at OKTAGON 92

One of the most thrilling bouts of OKTAGON 92 is now behind us. Makhmud Muradov was on the verge of defeat, but early in the second round, he turned the tide of the fight and spectacularly knocked out Will Fleury.

The Uzbekistan representative accepted the fight shortly before the event, stepping in for Daniel Škvor. The interim middleweight champion hadn’t completed a full training camp, yet he still decided to face off against Willem Fleury, who was undefeated in OKTAGON MMA. The Irishman had the physical advantage and was considered an extremely tough opponent.

Muradov weathered the crisis and ended the fight in a flash

From the opening bell, Fleury consistently stuck to his game plan. The Irishman applied pressure, pinned Muradov against the cage, and sought to take the fight to the ground. “Mach” looked good on his feet and landed several powerful strikes on his opponent, but as time went on, Fleury got his way, took the fight to the mat, and controlled the first round.

Most of the action, however, took place toward the end of the round. Muradov went on the offensive but was caught by a powerful counterpunch. The Uzbekistan representative went down, and only the bell signaling the end of the round saved him from a knockout.

After the break, the fans saw a completely different Muradov. The former UFC fighter quickly regained the upper hand and, just a dozen or so seconds into the second round, sent Fleury to the mat with a heavy blow. A few more strikes were enough for the referee to step in and stop the fight. The second round lasted just 19 seconds, and Muradov was able to celebrate one of the most spectacular victories of his career.
