Mamed Khalidov spoke candidly about what motivates him to fight at KSW 100 and continue his KSW career.
Mamed Khalidov will appear in the fight of the evening at the KSW 100 gala. On Saturday, November 16, Khalidov will face undefeated Adrian Bartosinski, KSW welterweight division champion. Mamed is a true veteran and a living legend of the KSW federation.
Mamed Khalidov has been fighting professionally for over 20 years. During the interview, the experienced Arrachion Olsztyn representative was asked about the worst moments in his career and what motivates him to continue his adventure with the sport and fight against much younger opponents.
– Worst moments… I generally started my career with failures. I fell hard on my face right away. Three defeats in a row in Lithuania, at the beginning, right away. I was 90 percent sure that I would give up. Thank God my coaches almost forcibly made me continue my career. They told me that it was nonsense what I wanted to do, that I had talent, that these were the beginnings. At that time there were no amateur fights, I had no experience.
– Only when I understood what defeat was did I pick myself up. Then for the next few years I did not lose fights. In recent years I lost several fights, for me it was known to be a hard time. You need to understand that I will not explain to anyone in what condition I entered the cage when for ten years I did not lose. What happened later, these things, after my illness. This is indescribable. The ability to lift, to prove to yourself that you are capable of winning. Even after such a thing, after severe depressive, neurotic states, dizziness during the fight, where you can’t see anything. Fighting depression, fighting neurosis is what motivated me, that I will prove to myself that I will come out of this. These are the two things that motivated me, the failures and the fight against the disease.
