Mamed Khalidov shocked fans with his words in a special recording, the fighter announced that he is taking a break and does not intend to enter the cage next year.

Mamed Khalidov fought a bout with Adrian Bartosinski at KSW 100. The former KSW middleweight champion faced the previously undefeated Bartosinski, the current champion of the welterweight category. Mamed Khalidov submitted Bartosinski in beautiful style in the second round of the evening fight of the anniversary gala.

Mamed Khalidov addressed his fans just days after his impressive victory. The legendary fighter admitted that he doesn’t know what will happen next. Khalidov stated that he wanted to fight a duel with the strongest opponent in his weight class, however, this could not happen due to the champion’s injury.

– I don’t know what’s next. I don’t know what’s next. It was really a great challenge for me. I wanted to fight the best fighter at such a special gala. In my weight category it was Pawlak. Unfortunately… Or maybe fortunately he had an injury and I got a probably more challenging fighter… I mean, I don’t know if he was more challenging, but he was undefeated. It was probably the biggest challenge for me now, at the moment, as far as the KSW Federation is concerned. To fight with such a top fighter and even more so to win.

Khalidov’s next declaration was even more shocking to fans. Mamed stated that he had no idea if the duel with Bartosinski was not the last fight of his career. At the end of his statement, Khalidov announced a break from competing. The KSW veteran will take a break and made the surprising decision not to enter the cage for the next year.

– And why was it important? Because I don’t know how many more fights I will have. I have no idea if this was the last fight, or if I still have one or two more fights ahead of me. Having this realization, I wanted… If this is to be my last fight, let it be with this best fighter. Let it be at KSW 100, at this special gala.

– We will see what happens next. If it is given to me, I will have the desire, I will have health, we will still fight. And this I can’t say yet now. For now I want to rest. I still have a lot of things on my mind. I think that the next year I will definitely not fight. And I’m already 44 years old. And half! So next year I’ll be 45, and only then I’ll see whether to go this way, whether to fight again or not.
