Mateusz Gamrot gave a behind-the-scenes look at his future. An important announcement was made ahead of UFC Vegas 120

Mateusz Gamrot revealed that his upcoming fight could be of great significance not only from a sporting perspective. The Polish fighter admitted that his current contract with the UFC is coming to an end, and his future with the organization depends on upcoming talks.

On August 8, “Gamer” will headline UFC Vegas 120. The former two-time KSW champion will face Quillan Salkilld, one of the most promising fighters in the lightweight division. The main event consists of five rounds, which is certainly good news for the Polish fighter. Mateusz Gamrot has repeatedly emphasized that it is over the long haul that he can best utilize his conditioning and wrestling skills.

“I’m not thinking about the contract, just the fight”

Quillan Salkilld, undefeated in the UFC, is a fighter the organization clearly wants to promote. The Australian finishes his fights spectacularly and, moreover, represents a market that is extremely important to the organization. The UFC regularly returns to Australia and New Zealand for events, which is why developing new stars from that region is of immense importance to the organization’s leadership. From Gamrot’s perspective, however, this means another tough challenge against a fighter in whom the organization itself has great faith.

During the Oktagon LIVE program on the Sports Channel, Mateusz Gamrot revealed that his August fight will be his last under his current contract with the UFC.

” This will be my last fight under this contract. If I fight well, maybe I’ll be able to negotiate better terms. Maybe I’ll sign a contract before the fight, but I’m not focusing on that—I’m thinking about the fight,” he told Maciej Turski and his team.

He added that talks with the organization are already underway, but everything depends on the details of the new agreement.

– It’s possible that a contract will be signed; it depends on the terms. They know this is my last fight; we’ve already talked about it, and they’re in the loop, he added.

At this point, however, it’s hard to imagine the UFC letting the Polish fighter go. Gamrot has been among the very best in the lightweight division for years, and his name is well known to both fans and the organization itself. Even if some fans prefer a more spectacular fighting style, “Gamer” remains one of the division’s most valuable fighters. A successful performance against Salkilld could therefore not only bring him closer to his next big fight but also secure him a much more favorable contract with the UFC.
