Mateusz Gamrot responded to Kamar Usman’s suggestion that he would like to see the Pole fight Ilia Topuria.
Kamaru Usman, in the latest edition of the Pound 4 Pound podcast, suggested a number of matchups in the lightweight category. The experienced Nigerian, who has experienced a taste of the UFC championship, stated that a clash of Mateusz Gamrot vs. Ilia Topuria could take place in the octagon.
We did not have to wait long for the Pole’s response. Mateusz Gamrot responded to Kamaru Usman’s suggestion on the X platform. The Pole added a comment under the video of the former UFC champion’s statement.
– That’s right Master! Little guests are always a great idea.
Mateusz Gamrot has mentioned several times in recent days that the situation with his next fight has moved forward strongly and his next bout should be officially announced soon. Of course, MMA fans in Poland would love to see a clash between the popular Gamer and El Matador. Unfortunately, Mateusz lost in his last fight and slipped in the rankings to eighth place, which certainly doesn’t help during contract negotiations.
The fact that Ilia Topuria is undefeated in professional MMA and has vacated the featherweight division belt in an attempt to win a title in the lightweight category could also be a problem. Stationed in Spain, the Georgian has openly talked about a duel with Islam Makhachev, but the wise heads in the UFC office are not in favor of the matchup.
If such a fight eventually took place then Mateusz Gamrot would have a physical advantage over Ilia Topuria. The Pole is taller and also has a better reach than the former featherweight division champion.
