Mateusz Gamrot commented on reports regarding Charles Oliveira’s alleged injury. Gamer admitted that he would accept a replacement at UFC 309.
Mateusz Gamrot has flown overseas, where he will train in Florida. The Pole will begin his preparatory camp at American Top Team. Of course, in recent weeks Gamer has been training regularly on the Red Dragon mat.
Just before his departure, Mateusz met with Artur Mazur, to whom he gave a lengthy interview. The material appeared on the Klatka po Klatka program. The journalist asked the leading Polish lightweight in the UFC whether he had heard about Charles Oliveira ‘s injury and whether he would be willing to step in as a replacement for his fight with Michael Chandler at UFC 309.
Mateusz Gamrot did not take long to respond, although he stressed that in his opinion it was a hoax. Gamer follows Oliveira and Chandler’s social media accounts and saw no indication that either fighter had suffered an injury.
– I think this information is a fake. Watching one and the other it is clear that they are preparing. There’s not much time left, so I don’t think anyone will drop out at the last minute. And you ask if I would take possibly? Well, there are some fights that you just don’t refuse. This fight is certainly one of them.
Mateusz Gamrot indicated that if he were to actually enter as a replacement he would prefer to learn about it as soon as possible in order to start the weight cutting process right away.
– I mean yes, well the sooner I would know the sooner I would start making weight simply. Well, but I am in a training rhythm all the time. It’s different maybe this specificity from normal preparation because I don’t have innings in the gym, I don’t have investigations, I don’t have sparring so sharp, so it’s different from the preparation period. I’m in training all the time, so I wouldn’t be plucked from the couch. So if such an offer came up, if the UFC wanted to use me, well I am. Dude I’ve already shown so many times that I belong to (those from) special tasks, so I would do that too.
