Mateusz Gamrot may face Brian Ortega a former double contender for the featherweight division belt. The Pole was quick to comment on the reports, suggesting it was an easy fight.

On Wednesday night, news unexpectedly emerged that Mateusz Gamrot and Brian Ortega would face each other at one of the future UFC galas. The news was first reported by Hominick Butler a Canadian journalist for the MMAGlobal website.

For Mateusz Gamrot, it would be a very interesting fight against an opponent who, as he has gotten older, has had more and more trouble filling the featherweight division’s limit. The downside is that Ortega has lost three of his last four fights, and has only fought five fights in the last five years.

The aforementioned Butler spotted Gamrot’s comments regarding the clash with Ortega. Matthew was very quick to address the rumored juxtaposition. The Pole commented on a possible bout with a fighter who has fought Max Holloway, Yair Rodriguez and Alex Volkanovski in the past.

– Easy.

Brian Ortega is, of course, ranked sixth in the rankings of the up to 66 kilograms category, but accepting this fight, or even winning it, could do Gamrot little good. Certainly, even with a victory, one would have to forget about moving into the top five of the lightweight division rankings.

Consequently, a fight with a fighter from California also carries a lot of risk, as an unexpected defeat would only mean Gamrot’s drop out of the top ten in the ranking of the up to 70 kilogram category.
