Mateusz Rebecki spoke out after his win over Myktybek Orolbai. Pole that he thought he could not handle the pressure of fighting at UFC 308.
Mateusz Rêbecki was a guest of Michal Tuszynski in the latest edition of the MMA Monday program broadcast online on FanSport channel. During the conversation Mateusz Rêbecki confessed that he has changed his preparation and diet before his fight with Myktybek Orolbai at the UFC gala in Abu Dhabi.
– It seems to me that the change, the stimulus of such a change has affected me positively. Willingness to train, motivation has changed. A different specificity of work. This is also certainly a huge change well and diet, you know. A person develops all his life, as you can see, and basic things are capable of escaping a person.
Mateusz Rêbecki recalled an earlier defeat to Diego Ferreira. The Berserkers Team and American Top Team fighter admitted that it was a very difficult time for him and he had a lot of stress preparing for the UFC 308 gala.
– This has been the hardest period in my life. I make no secret of the fact that everything revolves around training and my career. This weight of this duel was incredibly high. Losing I think that rebuilding would be…. I talked to one of my coaches today about it, it’s like running after an injury, it’s very hard to come back. Here everything played out. I am a happy man and now I feel completely different. Calmer.
Mateusz Rêbecki admitted that he didn’t want to fight in Abu Dhabi. The Pole was hoping for another fight in the USA, where he was accustomed to how fight week goes.
– I didn’t want to fight in Abu Dhabi, I didn’t care because there are no taxes there. I wanted to prepare in the States and have comfort, certainty of place. Because let’s not kid ourselves after the fourth fight (in the US) a person already knows what to do. Well, but the matchmakers thwarted my plans. Maybe this is the way it should be? You can’t stick to a template. It was amazing, a very big step out of the comfort zone. I thought I wouldn’t be able to handle it, but luckily I’m a tough sku**ysin and I made it.
Asked if he read the comments of fans on the Internet, he admitted that he did. Rêbecký is satisfied that this time he can consider himself a positive hero.
– Clearly I am overjoyed this is a huge honor for me. Shucks I’m happy to be the good character. Let’s not kid ourselves there are the bad ones and the good ones and here I think I was counted more among the good ones. I’m glad because this is a summary of my hard work. I’m not going to say that I’m not interested in fans’ opinions, because I read them, both positive and negative. If they are constructive then I will even draw some conclusions from them. I would like to be together with the fans, not that it’s a collaboration, just to let them feel that I am grateful. We are only here for the fans, we give them a show, and thanks to the fact that they want to watch us we have money.
