Mateusz Rêbecki has found himself in a difficult situation. The Pole unexpectedly heard from a matchmaker that the UFC has no idea about him at the moment.
Mateusz Rêbecki has been in Florida for a month, where he is honing his form on the American Top Team mat. The Pole flew to the US with the hope of signing a contract for his next fight soon after his arrival.
However, more weeks pass, and nothing happens in that direction. Rêbecki is slowly starting to get irritated with his situation, as it will soon be six months since his last fight in the UFC octagon. The fighter from Szczecin has so far recorded four wins and one loss in the world’s best MMA league, which should put him in a good position, as rivals should be eager to clash with the Pole.
Mateusz Rêbecki gave an interview to Pawel Wyrobek of Polsat Sport. It was in the conversation with the Polish journalist that the lightweight category fighter presented his current position.
– I am on standby, waiting for a fight. So far something quiet, something they do not want to give it to me. But here a colleague next to me, Mateusz Gamrot has a similar situation. This is annoying for me, it bothers me, because frankly, coming here I thought that in days I would get a fight.
Mateusz Rêbecki was offered a fight against Fares Ziam at a UFC gala in Saudi Arabia in January. The Berserkers Team and American Top Team fighter asked for more time to prepare, as he was struggling with an illness at the time.
– They are trying, they bring up my topic every week. Sean Shelby’s explanation for this is that they have no idea about me and that’s it. I think this is a consequence of the fact that I didn’t take the fight on February 1.
Mateusz Rêbecki is not happy with the current situation and believes that the matchmaker is simply doing him a favor for the fact that the Pole earlier refused to clash with the unleashed Ziam. We keep our fingers crossed that Rêbecki’s situation will quickly improve and that he will sign a contract for his next fight in the octagon.
