Mauricio Ruffy will face Charlie Campbell on the preliminary card of UFC 309 in New York. For the talented Brazilian, it will be his first appearance since UFC 301.
Mauricio Ruffy impressed hardcore UFC fans in his debut at a gala in Rio de Janeiro. In his first appearance in the octagon, Ruffy dominated and demolished Jamie Mullarkey by knocking him out with a flying knee and punches at the end of the first round.
Now we have learned that Ruffy will fight another bout in the best MMA league in the world on November 16 at the UFC 309 gala in New York. The news of the Charlie Campbell vs Mauricio Ruffy fight was first reported by Brazilian portal Ag Fight.
Both Ruffy and Campbell are fighters who participated in Dana White’s Contender Series program. While the Brazilian won his bout and went straight to the UFC, the American was not so lucky. Charlie recorded a loss in the Contender and then competed in grappling and scored a victory at the CFFC regional organization’s gala.
Eventually, however, Campbell also found his way to the UFC by jumping in as a replacement to the schedule of last year’s Noche UFC gala. The fighter from New York will now record a performance in front of his home crowd. Nonetheless, he will not be the favorite for the clash with Ruffy, whom many consider a fighter with enough potential to become the UFC’s next big star.
