Max Holloway Ahead of UFC 329: I’m going to remind the whole world who I am

Max Holloway has no intention of dwelling on his latest loss. The former UFC champion says that at UFC 329, he wants to remind fans why he has been among the world’s top MMA fighters for years.

This Saturday, the Hawaiian will face Conor McGregor in a rematch. The main event of UFC 329 will take place in the welterweight division. “Blessed” enters the fight following a painful loss to Charles Oliveira, who dominated him on the feet and on the ground for five rounds, stripping him of his BMF belt.

Holloway is aiming for another title fight

After his loss to the Brazilian, Max Holloway returned to the training gym almost immediately. In an interview with the UFC, he admitted that his goal is not only to defeat McGregor, but also to prove to everyone that he still deserves a spot among the contenders for the championship belts.

“All you have to do is win in this sport and win excitingly. I’m going out there, I’m going to put on a show. We are in the entertainment business; we are prizefighters. I’m going to go out there and remind the world who I am. Who knows, I have history with the 155lbs champ, and everybody keeps saying the 170lbs champ for Conor. So, if I just fit myself right in there, it would be nice.”

Holloway believes that a victory over McGregor could reopen the door for him to fight for the title—in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions. First, however, he must defeat the Irishman, which—as he himself points out—will certainly not be an easy task.

Despite everything, the Hawaiian hasn’t lost his confidence and is convinced that after UFC 329, he’ll be back in the spotlight.

“Mystic Max is right, and we onto the next one. I get to put my name in the history books come July 11 and remind everybody. When it comes to me, they keep forgetting. One loss in this sport is so crazy to the world. Just have to remind the people.”

Max Holloway heads into UFC 329 with a record of 27 wins and 9 losses. Before his loss to Charles Oliveira, he successfully defended his BMF title by defeating Dustin Poirier. Now he hopes that a win over Conor McGregor will put him back in contention for the UFC’s biggest titles.
