Max Holloway intends to spoil Dustin Poirier’s retirement celebration. The Hawaiian believes he will finally beat the experienced fighter.
Max Holloway has already had two fights with Dustin Poirier. In both fights, Diamond was the victor. Nevertheless, the Hawaiian does not hide his optimism ahead of the trilogy at the UFC 318 gala in New Orleans. The BMF belt holder is setting ambitious plans for this year.
Max Holloway knows that he will face Poirier in his last professional bout. However, this does not change the fact that Blessed will want to spoil the celebration of the American Top Team fighter.
– I got the chance to face him in the last fight of his career. I know he will want to ride off into the sunset…. may do so, but perhaps he will be sad because I plan that it will be my hand that will go up after the win.
Max reminded the audience that a few weeks before the Holloway vs Poirier 3 fight there will be a bout for the vacant UFC lightweight division championship belt, featuring Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliviera.
– I want to emphasize with this fight that I am still here. This is Dustin’s last fight however he fought for the belt in his previous bout. I still plan to fight for the lightweight division title. A few weeks before our fight there will be a championship clash at UFC 317, and I am connected by history with the participants of this fight. That’s why I want to win against Poirier, prove my worth and who knows maybe I can fight for the belt at the end of the year?
