Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley will face each other in the main event of the UFC 316 gala in New Jersey. The rematch clash for the cock category belt will take place on June 7.
Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley will meet again in the UFC octagon. The top fighters in the cockfighting division will face off in a rematch at the UFC 316 gala in New Jersey. The event will take place at the legendary Prudential Center arena.
Merab Dvalishvili is the current champion of the up to 62 kilogram category. The Georgian took the belt from O’Malley in his first fight in September 2024, and has since managed to defend the title once. Dvalishvili defeated Umar Nurmagomedov after a five-round bout with which he cemented his position at the top of the cockweight division.
Sean O’Malley has not fought since his first bout with Merab. The 30-year-old fighter had to undergo surgery and has spent a long period rehabilitating and recovering. The choice of O’Malley as Dvalishvili’s opponent is not surprising. Other top fighters are injured or have contracted fights, and Sean is a media name enough to attract fans to the stands and in front of TV sets.
Merab Dvalishvili currently has an incredible series of twelve wins in a row. “Machine” trained for many years in New York, from which by American standards it is a stone’s throw to New Jersey so he will be able to count on the cheering of his fans.
