Michael Page may soon fight his final bout in the UFC. The British fighter has confirmed that his September bout in Paris will be his last under his current contract, though he is hoping for a contract extension.

“Venom” will return to the Octagon at UFC Paris, which takes place on September 5. His opponent will be Nursulton Ruziboev, and the bout will take place in the middleweight division. Since joining the UFC, former Bellator champion Michael “Venom” Page has competed in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions, emphasizing that, above all, he is looking for exciting challenges.

The MVP wants to become the UFC champion

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, the Englishman admitted that the fight against Ruziboev would be the last one stipulated in his current contract with the UFC. At the same time, he noted that he would not want to end his run with the world’s largest MMA organization on that note.

– Yes, this is the last fight on my contract. I wouldn’t want this to be my last fight in the UFC. I want to fight bigger names. My goal is to win the championship belt, and I still believe I’m capable of doing that. I know I can do it. I’d like to extend my contract, but I’d also like to be sure that the UFC will give me big fights and present a plan that will allow me to reach a title bout.

Page makes no secret of the fact that his biggest dream is still to win the championship title. However, he isn’t convinced that the matchups he’s had so far are actually bringing him any closer to achieving that goal.

The British fighter also revealed that, prior to the event in Paris, he had not yet held any talks with the UFC regarding a new contract. However, he does not intend to worry about it and wants to focus solely on his upcoming fight.

– I don’t want to stress too much about all this politics and everything that’s going on around me. I just want to step into the cage, put on a great performance, and make them want to see me there again.

Michael Page currently has a 4-1 record in the UFC and is on a three-fight winning streak. In his most recent bout, he defeated Sam Patterson by unanimous decision in the welterweight division. Prior to that, he scored victories over Jared Cannonier and Shara Magomedov in the middleweight division.

If “Venom” really wants to join the fight for the championship belt, he’ll eventually have to decide whether he intends to compete in the welterweight or middleweight division. First, however, he needs to secure a new contract with the UFC.
