Miroslaw Okninski pointed out a mistake made by Jan Blachowicz’s coaches in between rounds of his fight with Carlos Ulberg at the UFC gala in London.
Miroslaw Okninski followed Jan Blachowicz ‘s fight at the UFC gala in London with interest. The experienced coach watched both the fight itself and what advice Blachowicz was getting from his corner.
Miroslaw Okninski in the FanSport studio praised Jan Blachowicz’s attitude in the first round of his fight with Carlos Ulberg. The trainer of the Wilanów Combat Sports Academy pointed out a mistake made by Blachowicz’s corner in the break between rounds.
– Janek was super set mentally. The first round beautiful and in the second round… Immediately they will say that “oh, because Okninski is supposedly the best and he promotes himself”. That’s not the point! The coach, when you win the first round, says in such a tone: “Well, don’t hurry Janek”.
Miroslaw Okninski suggested what coaches should do to motivate the players in the second round.
– We should have said, “Do the pressure! Scare him! Make him think you’re in a hurry!”. And there it was to calm Janek down. He should at least pretend. That one wouldn’t open up like that. As he sped away, Janek was unable to stop him. There was space to play him off. The staff is very important, the tone, getting the player going, building up.
Jan Blachowicz dropped to the fifth position of the UFC rankings in the up to 93 kilogram category after losing to Carlos Ulberg. The Pole will probably have to fight again against an opponent ranked lower in the division ranking.
