Just five days before the gala, a brand new fight was unexpectedly added to the UFC 313 gala card.
Chris Gutierrez and John Castaneda will face each other on the preliminary card of the UFC 313 gala, which will take place on March 8 in Las Vegas. Gutierrez announced the fight on his Instagram. It is worth noting that although both fighters fight in the UFC in the cock category, this time they will exceptionally fight a duel in the featherweight division limit.
Everything, of course, has to do with the massive last-minute changes that went through the schedules of the UFC Seattle and UFC Vegas 103 galas. Chris Gutierrez had been advised from the beginning to start at the March 8 gala, but his original opponent Jean Matsumoto was moved to the Seattle gala card.
Gutierrez had been preparing for the event all along, but had no concrete news on whether he would be allowed to enter the octagon this Saturday. The situation was positively changed by the bad luck of another fighter.
John Castaneda was scheduled to fight at UFC Vegas 103 and even made the scales. Unfortunately, his opponent first had problems making weight, and then was not cleared to fight by doctors. Matchmakers decided that it would be a shame to waste the hard preparation camps that Gutierrez and Castaneda had undergone and matched them against each other at UFC 313.
