Paddy Pimblett heralds the downfall of Ilia Topuria the undefeated fighter who vacated the belt to move up a division. The Englishman once again called the Georgian a midget.
It has not been known for a long time that Paddy Pimblett and Ilya Topuria are not fond of each other. In the past, there has been a behind-the-scenes scuffle between the players, and they had to be separated by security during one of their press conferences.
Paddy Pimblett gave an interview to Round Eight Boxing where he stressed that he wants to fight Topuria. The Englishman stuck a pin in the Georgia-born fighter, whom he called a midget. Pimblett claims that this is the beginning of the undefeated fighter’s downfall.
– I want a fight with him. This is another fight where I would prove everyone wrong about me. He is a midget. He is not a light heavyweight fighter. He shouldn’t fight in the lightweight division. He should stay in featherweight. This will be the beginning of his downfall.
Paddy Pimblett believes that El Matador, who vacated the UFC belt in the up to 66 kilogram category, ran away from his division. The Liverpool-based fighter claims that Topuria simply did not want to defend the belt.
– He made a big mistake. I think he knew that a rematch with Volk, the real Vokanovsky, who would no longer be marred by a harsh knockout by a head kick 12 weeks earlier, would be a very difficult test for Topuria.
– He said he cemented his legacy in his division. What a bunch of nonsense. Beat Volk again, beat Diego Lopes, beat Movsar Evloev, and then you can say you’ve cleared the division and are moving up in weight. Champions now too quickly prefer to change weight to a higher weight than to defend the belt.
