Patricio Pitbull is open to a fight of legends against Jose Aldo. Freire, as a former two-time Bellator champion, has a crazy plan to compete in four UFC weight divisions.
Patricio Pitbull will finally make his debut in the UFC organization. The experienced Brazilian has held the top two weight classes in Bellator for many years. The younger of the Freire brothers will score a fight against Yair Rodriguez contracted in the featherweight category to begin his UFC adventure.
Patricio Pitbull gave an extensive interview to Guilherme Cruz. During the conversation, Freire touched, among other things, on a potential fight with Jose Aldo. For Brazilian fans, it would probably be an extremely sentimental clash.
Patricio Freire open to fight of legends against Jose Aldo
Patricio Freire responded to a question about a matchup with the former featherweight category dominator of the UFC organization.
– It’s not that I want to fight him, but to give you context if the UFC organization sends me an offer for this fight I will be more than happy to accept it. I think it’s a fight that if it doesn’t happen will make people think, “They were champions of the featherweight division for so long, and they haven’t fought each other.”
Pitbull said that both Aldo and he have arguments on their side that make them the best fighters in the up to 66 kilogram division.
– For Aldo himself as well as the people associated with the UFC all consider the best featherweight in history. However, there are people who will say I’m still Pitbull, who can also be named with this title. It’s a great fight to make, and its winner would get the answer to the question of who is the king.
When asked if he would try to move down to the cockerel category again, Pitbull revealed a crazy plan to compete in four weight divisions.
– Depending on the challenge I can do it. From 135 pounds all the way up to 170 I can fight in those categories, it will all depend on who the opponent will be, how strong the name will be. If it’s a young fighter with no history then I won’t be interested in it, however, if it’s a fighter close in age to me, experienced with accomplishments then I’ll accept the fight.
Patricio Pitbull was a Bellator champion in the featherweight and lightweight categories. The 37-year-old fighter also tried to reach for the title of the cockerel division but lost the championship bout. Pitbull finished, as many as 24 rivals before time. He himself, out of 43 professional fights, was defeated by knockout or submission only three times.
