Pawel Pawlak spoke after Piotr Kuberski’s victory at KSW 118. The full-fledged middleweight champion commented on the win of “Qbear”, who defended his interim belt in a clash with Michal Michalski last weekend.
For many months, “Plastinho” and Kuberski have been on a collision course. Everything seemed to indicate that after “Qbear” won the interim championship, a unification fight would quickly follow. Kuberski won the belt after a victory over Tomasz Romanowski, and it seemed that a juxtaposition with Pawlak was just a matter of time.
However, there were complications along the way. Kuberski parted ways with the Artnox management group, which also represented Pawlak. Then information began to appear around the potential fight about the very high financial expectations of the new management of “Qbear”. Ultimately, the unification did not happen, and Kuberski had to focus on defending his interim belt.
Meanwhile, Pawlak added another victory to his record, and now Kuberski impressively dealt with Michal Michalski. A powerful left straight of “Qbeara” ended the duel and made the topic of the blockbuster unification fight return to the front pages of the MMA media once again.
After the KSW 118 gala, Paw Pawlak decided to refer to the performance of his potential rival. “Plastinho” used Georges St-Pierre’s famous quote addressed to Matt Hughes years ago.
– I’m very happy that you won this fight, Peter, but, uh, I’m not impressed with your performance and I’m looking forward to fighting you in the near future,” “Plastinho” wrote on social media.
All indications are that the KSW organization will look to bring about belt unification later this year. The conflict between the two fighters has been going on for a long time, and their potential duel has grown into one of the biggest fights the federation can currently put together in the middleweight category.
