Pawel Pawlak may lose his KSW belt due to inactivity. The middleweight division champion commented on both his health situation and what is happening in the category.

Pawel Pawlak is the champion of the KSW federation in the middleweight category. The Octopus fighter reached for the belt in June 2023 and has since successfully defended the trophy twice. Pawlak made his last appearance in July 2024, and KSW sporting director Wojslaw Rysiewski has given him until the end of May to determine when he will be ready to return.

Pawel Pawlak would have returned to competition long ago as there is no trace of his knee injury. The problem is that the 36-year-old fighter has twice acquired a staph infection, which has severely ravaged his body. In an interview with Jarek Swiatek, Pawlak indicated that he would not have time to prepare for the August gala, and even if he wanted to do so, Dawid Peplowski, Pawlak’s head coach, is against it.

Pawel Pawlak therefore openly admitted that he would not be ready to return in early August, which is when the KSW federation wanted to put together a championship fight in the middleweight division.

– I think for sure [the belt will be taken away from me]. I’m saying, I’m the champion, who is cool, likable, people like me a lot, but this is purely a business under that, to also sell tickets, PPV. More probably Kuberski would suit them, because he does it. And he fights regularly. I don’t fight, so what right do I have to have this belt, as there are other people to fight.
