Paweł Pawlak is taking a very relaxed approach to his December unification bout with Piotr Kuberski. “Plastinho” believes that the interim champion’s style might actually work to his advantage, and he’s had the outcome of the fight mapped out in his head for quite some time.
The clash between the full-fledged and interim middleweight champions will take place at XTB KSW 124, the organization’s final event of the year. Following his victory over Mamed Khalidov, Pawlak will once again defend his title, this time against one of the division’s hardest-hitting fighters.
He’ll face Piotr Kuberski, whose string of spectacular finishes and tremendous punching power have led many fans to see him as a real threat to the champion. “Plastinho,” however, doesn’t seem particularly concerned about this matchup.
Pawlak: “Strong, rugged players are perfect for my style”
In an interview with Fansportu TV, the KSW champion explained that he finds unpredictable and fast fighters more challenging than those who rely primarily on strength and pressure.
” For me, strong, powerful fighters are perfect for my fighting style, but someone like Mamed—who’s also a chess player and very fast—is the kind of guy who could outsmart me,” Pawlak said in an interview with Michał Tuszyński.
Pawlak thus made it clear that Kuberski’s style isn’t something that keeps him up at night. On the contrary—“Plastinho” believes that an opponent with those characteristics might be a good match for his fighting style.
Michał Tuszyński then asked if the champion could envision one specific scenario for the December bout.
Pawlak responded in his usual style and, with complete nonchalance, made it clear that this scenario had already been written a long time ago. What’s more, he is the one who wrote it, and there can only be one ending— “Plastinho” with his hand raised in the air.
At XTB KSW 124, we’ll find out if the champion really did predict everything correctly. Kuberski, however, will certainly want to brutally rewrite the script he wrote.
