The PFL will change heavily in 2025, with the organization ending regular seasons and relying on tournaments. The number of divisions will also be increased from six to eight.
The PFL is setting its sights on a very strong change in 2025. The organization started by announcing the closure of Bellator and continuing all events exclusively under the PFL banner. Now it’s time for more really big changes.
We recently informed you that the PFL would most likely abandon table keeping and additional scoring of fights. Today it has been confirmed that indeed the PFL is ending the regular seasons and is specifically betting on tournaments. Losers will therefore not get a second chance. Only the winners of the bouts will move on to the next rounds, so that eventually two players will meet in the finals.
Until now, the primary seasons have been played in just six weight categories, leaving some players disadvantaged, as there was simply nothing spectacular going on in their limit and they lost the chance to participate in the million-dollar competition.
Now the total payout pool is expected to reach $20 million, so an extremely interesting game is being prepared. The tournaments will be organized in 8 divisions, with 8 players in each division. This means that a total of 64 players will be involved in tournament play. The categories that will be introduced from 2025 are the bantamweight and middleweight divisions.
