The PFL will no longer pay checks of $1 million to championship belt winners. The organization has decided to cut that amount, by as much as half.

The PFL organization attracted fighters with the enticing prospect of winning a prize of $1 million if they won the belt at the end of the play-off phase. Year after year, the second force in the U.S. MMA market placed such checks in the hands of the winners of each weight class at the grand final gala.

The situation is set to change starting this year. In the upcoming season, the winners of the final clashes will receive checks of $500,000. In addition, according to preliminary information, the organization will also abandon rewarding players with points in the table.

According to information from American journalists, such decisions are dictated by the fact that from this year the regular season is to target young talent. The biggest stars bound by contracts with the PFL are to perform at big galas, which are expected to attract the public to the stands and viewers in front of TV sets.

Many fighters will probably be disappointed by this situation, but there is no such thing as a bad thing. The $500,000 is still an amount that can change the lives of many fighters, while the chances of more mega-events, for which the fighters will also receive generous payouts, will increase.
