Phil De Fries will fight a rematch with Darko Stosic at KSW 100, ahead of the gala the Englishman promises to avoid the Serb’s punches.
Phil De Fries and Darko Stosić will face each other for the second time in their careers. In the first fight, the grappler from the British Isles was the winner, dominating and physically finishing the Serb. On November 16, at the KSW 100 gala in Gliwice, the situation may be quite different.
Ahead of the anniversary event, the KSW heavyweight champion recalled his first skirmish with Stosic. De Fries admits that he did not believe how resistant to punches Hammer is.
– In the first fight with Darko, I couldn’t believe how tough he was. My hands were swollen afterwards.
Phil De Fries realizes that Darko Stosić has developed as an MMA fighter. However, the Englishman has nothing to reproach himself for and says he has also raised his own level.
– I believe that he has developed as a fighter. I, however, have a great team behind me and have also improved my skills. I am constantly developing as an MMA fighter. I learn from my mistakes, I take lessons from every fight. My confidence is growing all the time.
At the end of his statement, De Fries mentioned the Serb’s great punching power. Gameplan of the English champion of the royal division can’t be a surprise to anyone. Phil does not want to get hit and intends to move the fight to the mat.
– Darko has very strong punches. I can’t let Darko hit me. This is heavyweight and here such blows lead to knockouts. I hope I can avoid it this time too. I’ll try to bring him down, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll fight in stand-up. The goal is this: Darko has to land on his back, and then I have to hit him as hard as I can. When I topple him, he will get powerful bombs. I promise it will be a much more interesting fight than the previous one. I believe in my abilities, but fighting him in stand-up is not too smart. It’s time for a confrontation. We will see what will happen.
