Ahead of the upcomingXTB KSW 121 eventin Liberec, Phil De Fries, the heavyweight champion, suffered a cervical spine injury that ruled him out of the fight and may sideline him from competition in the octagon for an extended period. Three weeks before the scheduled bout againstŠtefan Vojčák (10-2, 5 KOs, 4 submissions), the No. 1-ranked contender,Marcin Wójcik (22-11, 12 KOs, 7 submissions), the No. 3 contender, and the interim heavyweight title will be on the line. The bout will take place onSeptember 19 at the Home Credit Arena in the Czech Republic.

KSW 121: Marcin Wójcik will fight for the interim heavyweight title

Štefan Vojčák has six fights under his belt in the octagon. In his most recent bout, which took place in June, he faced Arkadiusz Wrzosek and forced him to submit in the second round. Previously, he faced Phil De Fries in a title bout, and although he posed a serious threat, he ultimately had to concede defeat to the champion inside the cage. The popular “Mutant” from Slovakia is known for finishing fights early. So far, he has knocked out his opponents five times, won by submission four times, and secured first-round victories on six occasions. Over the course of his career, he has fought twelve bouts and won ten of them. Before the Octagon Fighting Academy Bratislava fighter began competing in Poland, he fought in Slovakia, Serbia, the Czech Republic, and the United Arab Emirates.

Marcin Wójcik has fought fourteen bouts in the octagon. He last competed in April, when he faced Phil De Fries for the heavyweight title but was unable to defeat the champion. Previously, Wójcik had defeated Augusto Sakai, a former heavyweight title contender. For the 36-year-old, who previously competed in the light heavyweight division, this was his debut in the heavyweight division. The popular “Giant” is known for putting on exciting fights. In the octagon, he has earned one bonus each for the best submission and the best knockout. Wójcik is an experienced fighter who has been competing in professional MMA since 2007. He has fought 33 bouts, winning 22 of them. He has won 19 times by stoppage, knocked out his opponents 12 times, and won by submission seven times. He has won championship belts from the FEN and Gladiator Arena organizations. He is also a former KSW light heavyweight title challenger.
