Jiri Prochazka doesn’t plan to dwell on his loss to Carlos Ulberg for long. The former light heavyweight champion has already been given his next big challenge and will headline UFC Qatar on November 21. His opponent will be the undefeated Navajo Stirling.
Prochazka will return to the Octagon following his loss to Carlos Ulberg. The current light heavyweight champion is still sidelined due to a leg injury sustained during UFC 327, and the situation at the top of the division remains wide open.
Czech has suffered title-deciding losses to both Alex Pereira and Ulberg, but he remains among the top names in the 205-pound division. A win in Qatar could instantly put him back in the conversation for another title shot.
Jiri Prochazka vs. Navajo Stirling at UFC Qatar
The UFC has officially announced that on November 21, Prochazka will face Navajo Stirling in the main event of the card in Qatar.
For Stirling, this will definitely be the biggest test of his career so far. The New Zealander boasts an undefeated record of 11-0, and recently he has been dispatching increasingly tough opponents.
He already has victories over Jan Błachowicz, Ion Cutelaba, and Bruno Lopes to his credit. For years, Stirling was also affiliated with City Kickboxing and trained alongside Israel Adesanya.
A victory over Prochazka could practically pave the way for him to fight for the championship belt. Prochazka, for his part, will want to prove that he still belongs among the division’s absolute elite.
Prochazka had previously been linked to a fight against Paulo Costa, but negotiations for that matchup ultimately fell through.
However, the card in Qatar isn’t limited to just the high-profile main event. Among the confirmed fighters are Aljamain Sterling, Dan Hooker, Brian Ortega, Jared Cannonier, and Kyoji Horiguchi.
