Rafael Fiziev is considering changing weight divisions after his second loss to Justin Gaethje. Ataman is thinking of going lower to the featherweight category.
Rafael Fiziev took a chance and jumped onto the UFC 313 gala fight card in place of the injured Dan Hooker. The Azerbaijani representative returned to the UFC octagon after a long hiatus, and while he did well, a second loss to Justin Gaethje left Ataman with a string of three straight defeats.
This is not a favorable situation and Fiziev realizes this. It would be difficult to negotiate more fights with highly ranked lightweights, so Rafael is thinking about opening a new wicket. The fighter, in an interview with Ariel Helwani, admitted that he had been considering a division change for a long time.
– I am thinking of changing my weight category. In the week before the fight, my weight went down so fast that the nutritionists had to make me gain weight. It’s a good time to change divisions.
– I thought about the featherweight category for a very long time, because I am not a big lightweight. I want to fight fighters from the top ten rankings and in the category below there are only interesting names and interesting clashes. I am convinced that they will have a problem if I go lower.
Even looking stylistically at the names in the featherweight category, it is no surprise that Rafael Fiziev is seriously considering going lower. Undoubtedly, Ataman would not stand out so much with his size while gaining a bit of speed.
