Reinier de Ridder scored a successful debut in the UFC organization. After the victory, the Dutchman appealed to fighters not to sign contracts with ONE Championship.
Reinier de Ridder recorded a victory by submission in his premiere fight in the UFC organization. The former ONE champion submitted the experienced Gerald Meerschaert in the third round. The Dutchman first hit his opponent and then secured a tight triangle choke with his hands.
With the impressive win, de Ridder has opened the way to more starts in the octagon. The fighter from Breda would like to fight stronger and more well-known opponents. Reinier de Ridder made the call during a press conference after the UFC Vegas 100 gala.
– I feel I have to pass something on to other fighters. If you are considering signing with ONE Championship, don’t do it. It’s simple, don’t sign anything. You won’t find anything there, there will be no fights for you in that organization. If you sign a contract with ONE it will be your mistake.
De Ridder is a fighter who is used to frequent starts and would like to remain active always if healthy. Reinier fought just one fight in ONE in 2023, and it was a grappling clash. The Dutchman also addressed this fact.
– It was a bad few years. It cost me a lot of stress, and my family also suffered. I struggled against a lot of adversity just to get a fight in ONE. It’s not easy for me to talk about it because the beginnings in this organization were great however later everything went wrong.
