Arkadiusz Wrzosek spoke ahead of the KSW 100 gala, the fighter was asked whether he would prefer his opponent to be Rico Verhoevem or Phil de Fries.
Arkadiusz Wrzosek will return to the KSW round cage at Saturday’s KSW 100 gala in Gliwice. Wrzosek will face Brazilian Matheus Scheffel. Journalists gave Ark a solid interview before the event.
Arkadiusz Wrzosek admitted that he realizes that the running of time is working in his favor, as Phil De Fries is getting older. Nevertheless, the kickboxer would like to face the Englishman soon. Wrzosek once again confirmed that even if he defeats Matheus Scheffel he will not fight for the belt in his next bout.
– You have to forge iron while it’s hot, and I don’t think I’ll suddenly become more ready in the next few months. Well, maybe in this case every month works in my favor because Phil is also getting older and I’m learning more, but I also already know that this is unlikely to happen for sure after this fight. I will not fight (in the next fight) for the belt.
– I don’t think about it, I can say so trivially that Matheus matters now, but rather I treat him as another stop on the way to the belt. Realistically I will be able to win this belt in the future, I hope to do it with Phil because no one has managed to beat him for so many years.
Asked whether he would choose a fight with Rico Verhoeven at KSW Epic 2 or a skirmish for the belt with Phil de Fries, after a moment’s thought Wrzosek replied.
– Not at this point I’m only interested in an MMA adventure anymore. Also definitely a fight for the belt with Phil.
Rico Verhoeven is a living legend in kickboxing, the 35-year-old Dutchman has won GLORY tournaments and Grand Prix in the heavyweight category several times. MMA fans may be pleased to know that Wrzosek chose De Fries here evidently focusing on his KSW career.
