Roberto Soldić identified Dricus Du Plessis’ main strengths in his rematch with Sean Strickland

Roberto Soldic spoke about the fight of the evening of the UFC 312 gala, the former KSW double champion pointed out the main advantages of Dricus Du Plessis in the rematch with Sean Strickland.

Roberto Soldic spoke on the topic of the clash for the UFC organization’s middleweight championship belt. An extensive interview with Soldić was conducted by American journalist Damon Martin. The former KSW double champion was asked how he assesses the progression and success of Dricus Du Plessis, and of course there was also a question about the Croatian’s fights with the African.

Roberto Soldić admitted that he is not surprised by the results achieved by Du Plessis. Robocop mentioned Stillknocks‘ many advantages in one breath. The fighter currently fighting for the ONE organization pointed out Du Plessis’ main strengths.

– I was not surprised by his performance. In the first fight with me he knocked me out with a powerful left, he is a very good puncher. Also his results don’t surprise me, he is very strong.

– People sometimes ask me about our fights, what it was like to face him. He is insanely strong, has great conditioning, moves uncommonly and is unpredictable. In a fight with Dricus you don’t know what to expect, he can attack with straights, he can get into your legs and submit you.

Roberto Soldic stressed that he underestimated the skills of Dricus Du Plessis before their first bout, and stated that in his opinion Israel Adesanya behaved similarly before his clash with the African. The Croatian noted that anyone who underestimates Du Plessis will face punishment in the octagon.

– I think Israel Adesanya made the same mistake I did. He underestimated him. Dricus doesn’t look good when he moves in the cage, but it’s very deceptive. He hits very hard and people don’t want to believe it. He moves like a wild boar and suddenly delivers a crazy punch. Nevertheless, it is extremely effective.

– In the first fight I underestimated him. I was already thinking a lot before the duel, and at the conference he tried to get into my head. In the first fight I was flustered, I really wanted to knock him out and I didn’t control my movements. People underestimate him whereas he enters the octagon ready to fight, gets into your head and always smiles during the rounds.

The UFD Gym fighter, of course, also talked about the rematch bout in a way outlining what Sean Strickland should do in his second fight with Du Plessis. Roberto Soldic drew attention to Dricus’ current weight, and also predicted that the South African representative will defend his championship belt at UFC 312.

– In the rematch I read him well. I was calm and patient, I hit accurately and did not get caught up in my attacks. On the other hand, there are reasons why he is now the UFC champion, he is cruelly strong and has great conditioning. Everything he brings out towards you is harsh punches, he f*cking really hits hard. It’s crazy because you think you already have him, you think he’s wired, and all of a sudden he explodes and hits you like he did in the Robert Whittaker fight. He really has great punching power. I think he’s the same guy as in the fight with me, except that he now weighs 100 kilograms and fights in the middleweight division. I weigh 91 kilograms and still fight in the welterweight division. It’s simply a matter of reading and anticipating the rival’s attacks properly.

– Strickland is also good, but Dricus will defend the title again. I don’t know why but it seems to me that this guy will only go up.
