Roman Dolidze has responded to criticism from Robert Whittaker. The Georgian claims that the former UC champion should not comment so loudly on his fight.
Roman Dolidze returned to competition and defeated Marvin Vettori taking a successful rematch against the Italian. The Georgian is slowly climbing higher and higher in the UFC middleweight rankings. Roman Dolidze is ranked a high eighth after the latest update. After winning the fight, the fighter from the Caucasus expressed his desire to fight a bout with Robert Whittaker or Israel Adesanya.
Robert Whittaker, who is currently ranked fifth, addressed Dolidze’s words. The Australian did not like the fight between Roman and Vettori and called the clash a continuation of the previous bar brawl. It didn’t take long for Dolidze to respond to Whittaker’s critical words.
Roman Dolidze referred to the tone of Reaper’s statement during an interview with Home of Fight.
– So says the guy who was knocked out several times and who got literally destroyed in his last fight. It’s ridiculous for me to hear him make such statements. I will always respect my rivals and other fighters. Well anyway Robert is a great fighter, he was a good champion, but at the moment you talk too loud, you have to prove that you are the tough guy you claim to be.
Dolidze was not happy that Whittaker, who had lost repeatedly before his time, decided to openly criticize him.
– This is not a guy whose words I can just accept just like that. He talks too much. We’ve seen him show more than once what he can do, and we’ve also seen him lose many times before his time. He has peeled off. Me and Marvin Vettori have never lost a fight before time.
Although the conflict between Dolidze and Whittaker was not expected, one has to admit that given the current ranking positions of both fighters, it can give a nice media boost to the rivalry. It is possible that matchmakers will match the fighters against each other at one of the galas in the summer.
