Stipe Miocić advised Tom Aspinall on how to fight Jon Jones. The former UFC champion appreciated the Englishman’s prudence and punching power, suggesting that he use them appropriately in the octagon.
Stipe Miocić lost to Jon Jones in November and decided to end his professional career. The 42-year-old Ohio firefighter was a past UFC heavyweight champion, and in his last professional bout he made a renewed attempt to climb to the top.
After Jon Jones’ victory, discussion immediately heated up about the fact that the royal category champion should make a mandatory defense against interim champion Tom Aspinall. The Englishman has expressed great desire for such a duel. The American announces that he will indeed accept an offer to fight Aspinall, but only if he receives the payday of a lifetime for it.
Stipe Miocić gave an interview to The Schmo, during the conversation the journalist asked the former UFC champion precisely about the mentioned matchup. Miocić was to suggest to Aspinall what he should do in the octagon. Stipe approached the topic with humor, however, eventually found valuable advice and, in the process, singled out the Englishman’s strengths.
– First of all, don’t do what I do! (laughs). Tom is very tough and beats very hard, moves well, is big. If he is calm in the whole situation, in all circumstances it will be fine, everything will work out for him. He has to choose his attacks properly, he is smart in his fights so I think he will do well.
