Szymon Kolecki will return to the cage as early as December 7, the experienced Olympian did not commit to a contract with KSW but chose to fight for the Babylon MMA organization.
Szymon Kolecki will return to professional competition after a 3.5-year break. The athlete won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics before switching to MMA. The experienced Kolecki is returning after a fatal injury that led to a series of surgeries and a very arduous return to full strength.
The 43-year-old fighter from the Wilanów Academy of Martial Arts will enter the cage on December 7 at the Babilon MMA 50 anniversary gala, which will take place in Ozarow Mazowiecki. At this point, unfortunately, we don’t yet know the name of Kolecki’s opponent, but it is expected to be announced on Thursday night. No weight limit has been announced either, but the fighter himself has previously announced that he would like to fight in the welterweight division.
The protégé of trainer Miroslaw Oknianski recently reported his readiness to compete and take part in the KSW 100 gala, but ultimately these plans came to nothing after Mariusz Pudzianowski ‘s withdrawal. In the end, therefore, Kołecki will enter the cage of the Babilon MMA organization, which managed to find a sponsor to cover the costs of Szymon’s participation in the event.
Szymon Kolecki currently has a string of four wins in a row. He defeated Mariusz Pudzianowski, Damian Janikowski, Martin Zawada and Akop Szostak consecutively.
