Themba Gorimbo revealed that he had a dispute with former clubmate Colby Covington, the player explained that it was the American who crossed the line and led to the conflict.
Themba Gorimbo has in the past praised Colby Covington, with whom he trained on the mat of Team MMA Masters in Florida and together prepared for fights in the UFC. At the time, the Zimbabwean fighter claimed that the American was misperceived by people while he was a good person.
Gorimbo revealed that the idyll ended about a year ago when Covington did something that Themba has no intention of forgiving him for. The fighter told the story in an interview with U.S. journalists before UFC 310, revealing the backstory of the conflict.
– Colby did something he shouldn’t have, he crossed the line. He will suffer the consequences and pay for his actions. I don’t know if it will be next year, but I intend to make it happen, he is my goal.
Themba Gorimbo is currently training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, and Covington’s behavior and decision influenced the Zimbabwean’s departure from MMA Masters.
– He kicked me out of the UFC Performance Institute in December 2023. At the time, I was working on gaining weight on a treadmill. This place is for everyone whereas he acted as if he owned it. This was when he was getting ready to fight Leon Edwards.
Legitimizing a series of four wins in a row, the fighter stressed that Covington didn’t even say that to his face, but sent one of his friends. The friend conveyed that Colby does not wish anyone to disturb him when he makes weight.
– Each of us has his morale, is aware of what happened. I’m glad we don’t train together anymore because after this action we had a tough sparring session, blood was shed, I won’t say whose blood. You can ask him about it, you will see what he will tell you.
