Tomasz Romanowski referred to the throwing in the towel by the trainers. The popular Tommy also talked about the serious eye injury he suffered at KSW 104.
Tomasz Romanowski lost to Piotr Kuberski in a bout for KSW‘s interim middleweight belt. The fighter’s corner, fearing for Tom’s health, made the decision to throw in the towel in the KSW 104 evening fight.
In the end, Romanowski left the KSW round cage without the championship belt with a serious injury. Jaru conducted an extensive interview with the fighter from Stargard. Tommy referred to throwing in the towel, reminisced about the old days, and also extensively described his health situation after the fight with Qbear.
– I, of course, do not resent it, that someone throws in the towel and so on, because, however, he is concerned about me. These are the two things I want to say. They know me, they know what I am like, they know what a person has gone through somewhere in life.
Tomasz Romanowski also recalled the old days, his fights and his brother’s fights often fought abroad, where fighters jumped into the schedule as late substitutes.
– We traveled with my brother to Chechnya, to Russia, to Dagestan. We always said to each other: “Remember, no matter what happens in a fight, you don’t throw in any towel, no matter what, no matter what.” And we were really going on a firefight, getting a call three or four days before the fight.
– I respect this decision of the coaches, that they made it, that they were worried and so on, but I don’t agree with it and I would never want such a thing. I really appreciate that someone is worried about me, because it’s cool that someone is worried about you, that someone wants your big career to continue and so on, but well that’s who I am and that’s why I’m like this.
Unfortunately, Tomasz Romanowski also confirmed that he suffered a serious injury in his duel with Piotr Kuberski. Tommy had a broken eye socket and underwent surgery. Berserker confirmed that he still sees double and prays for a full recovery.
– I have a broken eye socket. I am after surgery. I had the surgery last week. From that high kick I probably got from my right leg. And then I already had something happen to my eye there, because I could see double. And until now I can see double. It is uncomfortable, because it bothers me all the time. I’m after the surgery, I’m talking somewhere all the time, that image is blurred for me.
– Let’s hope that my eyesight returns normally to normal. It is known, if it does not return and I will be like a cyclops looking, that’s life. I reckoned with this sport, that it is hard, that something can always happen, I dream about it and pray that I can come back, that this sight of this eye will be such that I simply will not blur the image or see double.
