The UFC organization has decided on layoffs. The list unsurprisingly includes a fighter currently ranked tenth in the flyweight division.

Seven fighters have said goodbye to the UFC organization. Overnight, the first information on this subject appeared, which was later confirmed by American journalists. Three names stand out among those released.

Matheus Nicolau is still listed as tenth in the UFC’s rankings in the flyweight category. The representative of the Brazilian team Nova Uniao has lost three fights in a row. It would seem that the defeats should not bring disgrace to the Brazilian.

Nicolau lost to Brandon Royval which is number one in the ranking, Alex Perez, who is sixth in the ranking, and in his last fight he succumbed to Asu Almabayev who jumped to seventh in the ranking. Matchmakers apparently decided that Nicolau would not jump over a certain level and decided to give him a free hand.

Jessica Penne is well known to Polish fans from her fight with Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The former strawweight contender is 41 years old and, like Nicolau, has also lost three fights in a row. The American scored her last octagon appearance on October 19 at UFC Vegas 99.

Robelis Despaigne didn’t hang around long in the UFC. The author of viral quick and impressive knockouts fought his first fight in the organization in March 2024, and already the decision was made to part ways with him. It quickly came to light that the Olympic Games medalist in taekwondo is a one-fisted fighter and quickly fades in terms of conditioning.

Also released from the UFC were Tamires Vidal, Vinicius Salvador, Charalampos Grigoriou and Jesse Butler.
