The UFC organization wants to hold a gala in a new country. Dana White has relayed that the next spot on the UFC map in Europe will be Spain.
Step by step, the UFC organization is ticking off more spots on the map of the old continent. During a press conference ahead of the UFC 308 gala, Dana White revealed talk of a UFC debut in Spain.
The head of the world’s best MMA league indicated that the Americans had already begun reviewing available arenas, but for the time being the venues they were interested in were booked well in advance.
– Yes, we are working on a gala in Spain. We will appear there as soon as possible. The problem with Spain is that the halls are rented and the dates are busy. As soon as there is an option for us, we will appear there.
Of course, the UFC’s visit to the Iberian Peninsula will be linked to the growing interest in MMA in Spain, to which Ilia Topuria, the current featherweight champion, is prominently contributing. The Georgian-born fighter lives in Spain and is friends with many world stars. One of Topuria’s warm friends is Sergio Ramos, a soccer player for the Spanish national team, who regularly appears at UFC galas featuring “El Matador.”
It is worth mentioning that Topuria, after winning the UFC championship belt, appeared at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the stadium of Real Madrid, where he made an honorary opening kick in one of the matches of the “Royal” team.
