Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes will face each other in the championship fight of the evening of Bellator’s first gala in Dubai.
The Bellator organization announced today that undefeated champion Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his lightweight belt in a clash with Paul Hughes. The fight will take place on January 25, 2025 at the Road to Dubai: Champions Series gala at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
The skirmish is advertised as a Dagestan vs Ireland 2 event, referring to Khabib Nurmagomedov ‘s rivalry with Conor McGregor. Paul Hughes invited McGregor to his corner for a championship clash after his recent win over AJ McKee.
The Nurmagomedov vs Hughes gala will be the first Bellator and PFL event in Dubai. The organization had to attract mighty sponsors from the Middle East, as the event will be held in an arena that can accommodate, as many as 17,000 fans.
Usman Nurmagomedov is undefeated in eighteen professional fights. The fighter’s record would look even more impressive if not for the fact that the result of one of the fights was changed to a no contest. Fighting impressively Usman defeated, as many as fourteen rivals before time.
Paul Hughes is a former Cage Warriors champion who currently boasts a series of seven wins in a row. Born in Sydney, Australia, the Belfast-based fighter has already avenged the only defeat of his professional career.
