We have a response from Oleksandr Usyk’s camp regarding a potential trilogy with Tyson Fury. Following further complications surrounding his fight with Anthony Joshua, “The Gypsy King” has once again challenged the Ukrainian. However, his proposal was not met with much enthusiasm.

All signs in heaven and on earth pointed to the biggest fight in British boxing history taking place later this year. Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua expressed interest in a head-to-head match, and the organizational machine got rolling. The two were set to meet in the ring before the end of 2026.

Complications arose fairly quickly, however. One of the main points of contention turned out to be the location. Some of those involved in the organization wanted to move the highly anticipated bout to the United States, with Madison Square Garden cited as a potential venue. Joshua’s camp, on the other hand, pushed for the fight to be held on British soil.

Soon, the situation became even more tense. Fury spoke out on social media and suggested that, once again, nothing would come of the long-awaited showdown with “AJ.”

” So it looks like AJ screwed up again. After 11 years, he finally screwed up again,” Fury said.

However, the British fighter had no intention of sitting idly by and waiting to see how things would unfold. Almost immediately, he named a fighter who could replace Joshua in the now-canceled bout.

Usyk’s camp responds to Tyson Fury’s challenge

“The Gypsy King,” as befits a marketing mastermind, already had a backup plan in place. In the same statement, he challenged Oleksandr Usyk, proposing a third fight as early as November.

Fury has already faced the Ukrainian twice, and both times he left the ring defeated. Despite this, the former world champion would like one more chance to settle the score.

However, the camp of the undisputed two-time heavyweight champion does not seem particularly interested in such an arrangement. Sergey Lapin has made it clear that Usyk does not intend to be a fallback option simply because Fury’s talks with Joshua have reached an impasse.

“Fury isn’t part of our plans, and we won’t be his fallback option. Serious intentions are backed by a concrete offer, not media statements, ” said Sergei Lapin.

So for now, it seems we can forget about a third fight between Usyk and Fury. It’s hardly surprising, though, given the Ukrainian’s camp’s stance. Usyk has defeated Fury twice—first in May 2024, and then again in their December rematch.

The Ukrainian remains undefeated, and in his most recent bout, he faced Rico Verhoeven. Usyk defeated the famous Dutch kickboxer by TKO in the 11th round of their May bout in Giza.

So Fury will most likely have to keep looking. If he really wants to face Usyk for a third time, a media challenge alone won’t get him anywhere—the Ukrainian’s camp is expecting a concrete proposal, not the role of a last-minute replacement following the organizational issues with the Fury vs. Joshua bout.
